I've been doing alot of reading here lately. I don't have much school work to do and my hours at work have been cut dramatically due to the slow month, so its left me with alot of free time. And most of the time Im either playing the new sims2 expansion pack
or reading . I just got finished reading A Room With A View, By E.M.Forsterand I absoutly loved it! I was sad when i had finished reading it, I loved it enough to say its in the ranking for my favorite novel.
You may recall me talking about Master Piece Theaters verison of a room with a view I really loved the movie and thats how I found out about the novel. Now let me tell you im going to rant in this next paragraph, because I am so disappointed/ angry with Master Piece Theater.
Now having seen the movie before reading the novel I was prepared for there to be things that were left out of the movie. Never did I expect for them to change the whole story line! Heres where I get angry >:]. I have no idea what they were thinking when they were making this movie, did they even read the book?! They must not have! Because for them to change the ending like they did completely changes the whole story. In the movie they show Edward lying on a battle field in WWI where he dies. So the whole time im reading the novel im waiting for Edward to die and for Lucy to end up with the cabbie in Rome.
Never happens.
None of it. Edward and Lucy end up happily ever after in their room with a view in Rome. Why on earth did they feel the need to kill Edward off? It makes me so mad, that they would change the story line, and for what? To make it a sad story? It was a FINE story with the original ending E.M. Forster gave it! Master Piece Theater really peeved me off with that one.
Any way done with my rant. next im planning on reading Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca. im only two pages in, but so far its written beautifully. And any book thats written beautifully is a winner with me.
I just wanted to throw this out there, but I would love comments :). I would also love it if any one who has read Rebecca or A Room With a View or any good novel for that matter, to give me your opnions on them.
Wow that sounded like homework. Sorry. I just want to know im not the only one out here in blogland :).
