Regina Spektor is now Officailly the Sound Track to My Life :).

I discovered Regina Spektor the other day and I've fallen in love with her music. Its so different compared to the way most of our music sounds.
(I have no idea why this picture is so small) Any way thats all for now.

Emma!!!!

Saturday night me and my mom went to go see Emma, and it was wonderful! We both really loved it, and im hoping to get the soundtrack. But by far the best song was "Emma" sung by Mr. Knightly (video above) I think my heart just about melted. If you live in the Cincinnati area I highly suggest you go see it!

TWILIGHT

Twilight, Is every where much of any more, and I have to admit a bit over hyped sadly. With the movie coming out soon the cult like following has become even larger. And I really don't know how I feel about it anymore. The series is wonderful don't get me wrong I've enjoyed every moment of the Edward and Bella romance but, its just a book. And some of these girls (and a few boys too) are just taking it too far, like I said its cult like much of anymore. Its just turned into another Harry Potter like fad. And I hate that!

Sometimes I even wish I hadn't read the book because I feel like its so artificial anymore. But besides all that im sure most of you know about the movie coming out!! Im pretty darn excited for it, though I dont much like who they casted for some roles and they dont follow the story line completely. (Im complaining alot arent I?)
So that was just a little tidbit I wanted to share with you guys :).

The Finished Product and Severe Weather

So the Prado peice is finished!!!!And boy am I glad.

It didnt turn out nearly as well as I had hoped. Its just average, and I guess its good enough to put in my portfolio, but im not really sure if I really want it in there or not. So in other art/college related news im thinking about going to Savannah College of Art and Design. I mean if I get accepted of course, Im supposed to be getting information about applying this week. I saw SCAD when I visited Savannah over the summer and it was amazing. I know it seems a bit weird me saying all this after I just wrote in my last post about AAC being my choice but I've been thinking. And I feel like i've just settled with AAC, im not saying that its a bad school because its not I love it! But I think its more so that I didnt give myself real options I didnt look or give other schools a chance in a serious light. And well SCAD is a wonderful school, and I truely love Savannah more than anything. I think it would be good for me to go away for college also, I know my mom doesnt really feel this way because were so close but I really think its something I need to do to mature into a real adult. So SCAD is something im really seriosuly looking into right now.

On a completely different note, we have had insane weather! We had a serve wind storm up here in Ohio. We were out of power for about a whole day, thats why its taken me forever to post this. and some people are still without power. school was canceled for today but i got called into work at 12 and basically spent the whole time cleaning up the mess of our parking lot. so that was interesting :).
have a good week everyone.

Shoe Art

So I've been decorating my shoes. Nothing out of the ordinary for me, but this pair is the most elaborate ones I've done:

This whole shoe doodling obssesion of mine began in 8th grade. I'd had my first pair of Converse All Stars for awhile and one day I just decided to draw on them and its been that way ever since. Needless to say my mother wasnt happy about me doing this all over my shoes. But as the years went on my doodles got more interesting and how should I put it? Less messy and childish are good words to use I guess :).So I've been doodling on my shoes ever since, my other favorite pair are my low top black Converse that I drew moons and suns on (the shoes from the head picture).

But these are by far my new favorites. I took my super old vans with checkers on them (not exactly my style any more) and gessoed them and just drew and wrote. And all the qoutes are from a room with a view and just random drawings really. I had alot of fun with them. I love being able to look down and see art on my feet :).

New Art Supplies and Nature Center Outings.

So I'm still not completely finished with my Prado project, I've kinda been putting it off for some reason. I think its because I'm to the point where its almost finished and it can either look really good or just average. I always get a little nervous in that stage of projects. In other art news I went art supplies shopping. And what originally started out as just getting a 9b pencil and sketch pad ended up becoming half my pay check. I bought some India ink (which I'm new to, but very excited to try.) ,wet media pad in addition to the other sketch pad, new paint brushes, and a plastic container to keep all my pastels and pencils in. So I better get to work on some new sketches. Right now I'm craving to work with color for some odd reason maybe its from working with all the gray of my pencil drawing, who knows. All I know is that I need color! :)

So I'm thinking I want to do something very colorful and wild for the Mt St. Joe art show that's coming up. I participated in this show last year with some of my multi media work, but this year I'm defiantly thinking painting or pastels. I'm not sure which yet. I had been considering not doing this show again because after attending the show I knew there was no possibility in me attending their college. That sounds really harsh, but I know there was no way I could enjoy my education there, for one I'm not catholic (not that it really matters I'm not saying I have anything against that) I just saw how much the catholic religion seeped into there classes and such. And being quite honest there art department isn't top rate.
And after taking the classes at the art academy this summer I KNOW that's where I want to go to college. I was pretty sure anyway but those classes put me head over heels with AAC. So I guess I see doing this as just another way to get me more out there and for new people to see my work. Which is one of the most important things having your work out there to see. So I'll keep you updated on my piece for that show.

On a completely different note, Our Cincinnati Nature Center had there annual Preparing for Night get together. Me and my mom went together and it was a really good time, on the downside it rained (but I personally am a big fan of the rain).

They were supposed to have telescopes set up in the fields to star gaze (our main reason for going) but they didn't even set up seeing as it was so overcast and rainy. So that was a bit of a bummer.
I leave you with a picture of this little creeper :). I hate Squirrels.

Prado anyone?

So I started a new pencil drawing of a statue by Prado. Now I personally have never heard of this artist has anyone else out there? I found the picture from searching marble statues on google, normally its really hard to find good and interesting pictures of marble statues. Until I found this site it has a bunch of great old looking pictures of Greek statues (on the website it says that there of Alexander the Great, but I dont really think all of them are im not to sure?). Any way so I started working on it last night and I was really torn on wether I should do it in chalk pastels like I normally do, or just pencil. It was a really tough decision for me, because I personally know I would have had an easy time doing the peice with pastels, but I actaully choose instead to work with pencil.

I guess I choose to work with pencil because I know Im going to need alot more pencil drawings for my portfolio, I was pretty nervous starting on a full pencil drawing like this. But to my real surprise its actually turning out really well! I guess all those drawing classes this summer helped with even my drawing lines and shading just in general.

I still have alot of work to do on it, but im hoping I'll be done before the weekend is over. I'll post pictures when its done! ( sorry for the bad picture quality by the way I know they look awful! I think im just going to have to bite the bullet and buy a real digital camera instead of using my cellphone camera.)

Lots of Reading = Happiness

I've been doing alot of reading here lately. I don't have much school work to do and my hours at work have been cut dramatically due to the slow month, so its left me with alot of free time. And most of the time Im either playing the new sims2 expansion pack

or reading . I just got finished reading A Room With A View, By E.M.Forsterand I absoutly loved it! I was sad when i had finished reading it, I loved it enough to say its in the ranking for my favorite novel.
You may recall me talking about Master Piece Theaters verison of a room with a view I really loved the movie and thats how I found out about the novel. Now let me tell you im going to rant in this next paragraph, because I am so disappointed/ angry with Master Piece Theater.
Now having seen the movie before reading the novel I was prepared for there to be things that were left out of the movie. Never did I expect for them to change the whole story line! Heres where I get angry >:]. I have no idea what they were thinking when they were making this movie, did they even read the book?! They must not have! Because for them to change the ending like they did completely changes the whole story. In the movie they show Edward lying on a battle field in WWI where he dies. So the whole time im reading the novel im waiting for Edward to die and for Lucy to end up with the cabbie in Rome.
Never happens.
None of it. Edward and Lucy end up happily ever after in their room with a view in Rome. Why on earth did they feel the need to kill Edward off? It makes me so mad, that they would change the story line, and for what? To make it a sad story? It was a FINE story with the original ending E.M. Forster gave it! Master Piece Theater really peeved me off with that one.

Any way done with my rant. next im planning on reading Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca. im only two pages in, but so far its written beautifully. And any book thats written beautifully is a winner with me.

I just wanted to throw this out there, but I would love comments :). I would also love it if any one who has read Rebecca or A Room With a View or any good novel for that matter, to give me your opnions on them.

Wow that sounded like homework. Sorry. I just want to know im not the only one out here in blogland :).
