Once again I did not get to watch atonement again and I feel very dissapointed, so this weekend it is my number one priority!
I dont think I've really ranted on here about how much I adore this movie. Its quite funny I built it up so much before I got to see it because #1 it had James McAvoy in it my future husband, #2 Its set in the 1930/40s one of my favorite time periods #3 Keira Knightly is in it one of my favorite actresses.
Well I went and saw it and actually hated it when I saw it. If anyones seen the movie they may understand why I hated its extremely depressing. I love a good sad movie as much as any other girl but this one left me feeling quite hollow and that was all. So of course I was angry/upset because I built it up so much, but even than when I wasnt to happy with the film I had to admit the imagery was beautiful. And I knew I would watch it again just for that purpose.
Another thing that really bothered me about Atonement was the use of crude language. Its was horrifically embaressing to watch with my mum, when they type obscene words ( I mean OBSCENE) across the screen that fill the whole screen its not exactly a shinning moment to watch with your mum. I do understand it was taken from the novel obviously but the manner thay did it in was shall I say bold? LITERALLY. I knew it was rated R for a reason but that wasnt exactly the reason I thought it would be rated R for if you catch my drift.
Anyway after some time passed and I saw it was coming to DVD I decided I really wanted to watch it again/buy it even. And so I bought it the weekend my parents went away and me and Brooke watched it. And it was quite funny because she hated it as much as I did the first time I saw it (can I say Briony?) I suprisingly didnt hate Briony when I watched it again I actually understood her character alot more and felt more compassion for her and the blood she tried to repeatdly wash away but never could.
And now im in love with the movie completely, no if ands or buts.
